The authors comment:“When interested primarily in the relationships among the variables, rather than the distributions of their values, we speak of structure systems simply as structures. (A structures system can also be introduced in terms of behavior systems or state-transition systems (KLIR, 1985)” (in KLIR, 1985; RAMER & LANDER, p.448)

“A structure is covering if the union of its elements contains all the variables of the system” (Ibid).
