“A way of extracting statiscally meaningful information from lots of small trials” (The Economist, sept. 27th, 1997)

The Economist adds: “… even if they have been conducted in ways that make them difficult to compare ”by eye“. Its conclusions, however, are only valid if the negative trials are included as well as the positive ones. Leave out the negative ones and the results may be too optimistic”.

Such a method applied to scientific experiments may obviate undue rejections as well as conniving acceptances in the classical process of peer review.
